WORK180:
Progress Hub
An employer portal that empowers users to manage their profile data, complete the DEI Assessment, access the knowledge base, and use product features like the gender bias analyser.
The challenge
Our existing employer portal did not support our updated assessment model and offered only a limited self-service experience. Employers struggled to manage their own data independently, leading to frequent support requests that diverted valuable time from our Account Managers.
Employers couldn't access or update their own profile data independently, creating a bottleneck through Account Managers.
The DEI assessment was a fully manual process run through spreadsheets. We needed to bring it into the portal, make it intuitive to complete, and allow employers to save and return at any time to track their progress.
There was no way to track progress across different states and requirements, making the process feel opaque and unmanageable.
Saving, submitting, and editing information required manual AM support, slowing onboarding and increasing operational overhead.
The primary business goal was to increase employer profile launch rates by 50% and enable a fully self-service experience, reducing Account Manager contact hours.
How I approached it
I joined the product team as UX Designer mid-way through this project, working closely with the Senior UX Designer to design wireframes and user flows for key features, tailoring experiences based on user entitlements. Since taking over as lead designer, I've been responsible for continuous refinements informed by real usage data from our endorsed employers, re-branding the portal and expanding the design system with new and refined components.

- Successfully digitised and integrated the DEI assessment into the core product
- Significantly reduced Account Manager support time and operational overhead
- Improved usability and clarity across complex multi-state compliance workflows
- Established a scalable foundation for continuous iteration and improvement
Key learnings
Design for empowerment
Good UX reduces reliance on manual support. When users can confidently self-serve, it frees up the whole team.
Collaboration is critical
Early and ongoing alignment with Product, Engineering, and stakeholders kept the project on track and reduced rework.
Balance complexity and clarity
When designing for compliance-heavy workflows, clear guidance and progressive disclosure are essential to reducing cognitive load.
Coming soon, a live DEI Assessment data dashboard
Building on the foundation of the Progress Hub, the next evolution brings real-time DEI data and industry benchmarking directly into the portal — replacing a static annual report with a living, always-current view of performance.
Driven by user feedback. Employers consistently told us the annual PDF report was too long, difficult to digest, and arrived too infrequently to act on. They wanted a way to see how they were tracking at any point in the year — not just once.
Live data
Assessment data updates in real time as Endorsed Employers complete and revise their submissions — no waiting for a report cycle.
Industry benchmarking
Employers can see how their DEI commitments compare across their industry, surfacing meaningful context that a static report never could.
Always current
Instead of one dense annual report, employers get a clear snapshot of where they stand whenever they need it — making insights easier to act on.
