The Parkway Artway
Two mural illustrations commissioned for an outdoor public art gallery connecting the Ellenbrook town centre with the future Metronet station, celebrating local flora and the unique character of the area.
Overview
The Parkway Artway is an outdoor gallery designed to connect the Ellenbrook town centre with the future Metronet station and Hesperia precinct, bringing art into the everyday experience of the local community. I was commissioned by To and Fro Studio in Perth to create two mural illustrations as part of this initiative, contributing to a vibrant and accessible public art project.
The brief
The brief was to create two large-scale illustrations themed around patterns, people, flora, fauna or landscapes that make Ellenbrook unique. I chose to focus on local flora for both pieces.
What I delivered
As someone originally from New Zealand, I spent time researching Australian native plants, specifically those found in the Perth region. I then translated these botanical forms into my illustration style, incorporating their shapes and outlines throughout the compositions.
In both designs, you'll notice abstracted representations of local flora, surrounded by lines and forms that fill the space and bring a sense of movement and balance to the work.
